Bay Federal Credit Union has awarded three local high school graduates $500 scholarships to be used for college expenses. Scholarship recipients Aaron Brown, Elisa Sahagun, and Leonardo Serrano, were chosen from a group of more than 30 applicants from Santa Cruz County high schools. Membership in Bay Federal Credit Union was a requirement of all scholarship applicants. Recipients were selected based on character, work ethic, educational goals, and on the strength of their essay on how Americans should adjust personal budgets and spending habits to survive in the current economy. Brown, a graduate of Soquel High School, plans to pursue a biomedical engineering degree when he begins his studies at California Polytechnic State University this fall. Sahagun, a graduate of Santa Cruz High School, will attend Saint Mary’s College of California in pursuit of a degree in journalism. Serrano, a Watsonville High School graduate, will attend Cabrillo Community College to pursue a degree in veterinary medicine. About Bay Federal Credit Union:
