Bay Federal Credit Union Named "Business of the Year" by Aptos Chamber of Commerce

Each September, the Aptos Chamber of Commerce presents awards to a few individuals and organizations that have demonstrated exceptional service and commitment to the community. This year, Bay Federal Credit Union will be honored as the Business of the Year by the members of the Aptos Chamber of Commerce on September 25 at the Seascape Beach Resort in Aptos.
"We are delighted to honor Bay Federal Credit Union as the Business of the Year," said Karen Hibble, Executive Director of Aptos Chamber of Commerce. "Bay Federal provides strong support to many local organizations and schools through donations and volunteerism; it's remarkable that 100% of employees have participated in community support activities for each of the last six years. They are a shining example of a business-community partnership."

In October of 1957, twelve teachers met in the teachers’ lounge at Santa Cruz High School to pool their savings and establish their own credit union. More than 51 years later, Bay Federal Credit Union is Santa Cruz County’s largest, locally-owned, not-for-profit financial institution. Although the organization has grown substantially over the years, Bay Federal continues to operate under their original guiding principle of “people helping people.” Bay Federal’s mission, “to make a real difference in the financial lives of people in the communities we serve,” is realized through their efforts to provide exceptional service, offer financial products at a reasonable cost, support the goals of members and the community, and provide financial education to children and adults in the community.
