Media Resources: Press ReleaseBay Federal Credit Union Raises $10K For The Second Harvest Food Bank Capitola, CA – April 7, 2010 –
The Employees and members of Bay Federal Credit Union have been recognized by the Second Harvest Food Bank for their fundraising and supportive efforts during the 2009-2010 Second Harvest Holiday Food Drive “Give A Little, Feed A Lot” campaign. A total of $10,034 was collected during the Food Drive, an increase of nearly 33% over last year’s efforts. In addition, Bay Federal’s internal Marketing and Development Team designed and donated advertising collateral to support the overall success of the Food Drive Carrie Birkhofer, President and Chief Executive Officer of Bay Federal, offered praise to Credit Union staff for their hard work in support of Second Harvest’s mission. “I am proud to work with such a great group of people who care deeply about the people in our community who have less than they do. Being hungry is not ok. Thank you for doing something about it.” The “Give A Little, Feed A Lot” campaign was created by Second Harvest to engage local businesses during the holidays and increase financial contributions to their Holiday Food Drive. In the past, business owners would place food collection barrels in their stores and offices to collect nonperishable food, but many remained empty. “You just don’t usually bring canned goods with you to the dentist,” said Willy Elliott-McCrea, Executive Director of Second Harvest. “We wanted to offer potential donors an easier way to help the hungry of our community, and increase our financial donations at the same time. This campaign seemed like the answer to both problems.” Bay Federal’s Marketing Department took conceptual direction from Second Harvest and designed donation cards, lapel pins, signs and newspaper advertising for the campaign. The collateral was made available to retail businesses in Santa Cruz County to boost donations at check-out counters. About Bay Federal Credit Union
