Bay Federal Credit Union employees were extremely proud to receive a Silver Award from the United Way of Santa Cruz County during the United Way’s recent award ceremony honoring the exemplary fundraising efforts of local businesses. Employees of the Credit Union raised a total of $8,048 to support 30 health and human service programs throughout Santa Cruz County. Carrie Birkhofer, President and Chief Executive Officer of Bay Federal, accepted the award on behalf of the Credit Union’s nearly 200 employees. “Half of all Santa Cruz County residents receive service from a United Way program each year,” said Birkhofer. “As budgets recede, it becomes more important for all of us to offer our support so that these programs continue to function. Bay Federal employees are ready to do their part.” Bay Federal Credit Union has held an annual employee campaign to support the local United Way for over 15 years. In addition to one-time donations and payroll deductions, Bay Federal employees hosted a variety of fundraising activities to raise extra money, including a rummage sale held in the parking lot of their corporate offices.
