Bay Federal Credit Union Raises over $21,000 for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals

Capitola, CA – August 30, 2023 – Bay Federal Credit Union employees raised $16,420.15 during their annual Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Hospitals fundraiser. With the addition of a philanthropic match from CO-OP Financial Services of $5,000, Bay Federal presented the CMN Hospitals with a check totaling $21,420.15.

Every year the seven Bay Federal branches and call center join in a competition to raise funds by holding contests, decorating branch locations with Children’s Miracle Network Hospital themes, and encouraging community members to ‘out-give’ each other by posting names of large donors on the digital signage that runs in all branch locations. This creative fundraising method earns the Credit Union CO-OP Financial Services’ Miracle Match of $5,000.

The Credit Union’s Scotts Valley branch won first place for the most funds raised, while Watsonville trailed close behind in second place. For added decorative competition, the Capitola Branch came in first place for their bakery themed decorations and Scotts Valley in second for their Mario Kart theme.

“Year after year Bay Federal members and employees show unwavering support for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals,” said Carrie Birkhofer, President and CEO of Bay Federal. "It’s an honor to support this organization and their dedication to improving the lives of so many local children and families.”

A key highlight of this fundraiser is that the funds will be used right here in our own community. The Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital Foundation is a Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Partner whose donations help in various ways by providing charitable care to patients, improving life-saving equipment, family, patient, and community education, as well as patient services for patients and their families.
