BayFedMobile is a safe, convenient service that allows you to manage your personal Bay Federal Credit Union accounts at any time, from anywhere, on your mobile phone or device.

Our strong encryption technology and multi-factor identification shield your accounts during your mobile banking sessions, providing you with extra protection against unauthorized account access.

Use the BayFedMobile app to:

  • Check balances and recent transactions on accounts under your member number and accounts you own jointly with other members.
  • Transfer funds between your eligible accounts (regular savings, checking, money market, etc.)
  • Deposit checks* with your smartphone (deposited funds will not be immediately available in your accounts).
  • Make payments to your Bay Federal loans and lines of credit (with the exception of VISA Credit Card accounts - we are hoping to add this option soon).
  • Take cash advances from your personal or home equity line of credit.
  • Locate Bay Federal Branches and ATMs.
You can also use BayFedMobile web from the web browser on your mobile device if you do not wish to download the mobile app, or use our text banking option to receive account balances and transaction information on any text-capable phone.

There is also the Mobile Banking Center: a secure website where you can enroll mobile phones to enable access your account information, cancel enrollment for lost or stolen phones, and access information and tools.

Registration and enrollment instructions for App, Web, and Text Banking

App and Web Registration
Text Banking Registration

To complete the registration process you will need your Social Security Number, zip code, and the 8-digit account number (not your member number) from your savings or checking account to register for BayFedMobile. To find your account number:

  • Check your monthly statement (printed or online).
  • Login to BayFedOnline and click "Detail" next to any account.
  • Visit any Bay Federal Credit Union branch.
  • Contact us at 831.479.6000 or 888.4BAYFED, option 3.

BayFedMobile registration is a process that you can complete on any smartphone, mobile device, or computer with Internet access. During registration, you will be asked to provide information to verify your identity, select and provide answers to security challenge questions, and create a User ID and Password to use whenever you login through the app, web, or the Mobile Banking Center.

IMPORTANT: When selecting your User ID and password, do not use obvious words and number combinations, like your name, your pet's name, or your birthdate. Using these and other obvious information can make it easier for people and computer programs to guess your login credentials.To protect your accounts, do not save your login credentials on your mobile device, and never reveal them to anyone.

Registration Instructions - BayFedMobile App and Web

  • Download the BayFedMobile app from the App Store or Google Play, launch the app, and select Not registered for mobile banking.
  • Select New User and review and accept the terms and conditions.
  • Verify your identity by entering your personal information:
    • Last 6-digits of your Social Security Number
    • The 8-digit account number from any of your Bay Federal accounts (not your member number).
    • Your 5-digit zip code.
  • Type the characters you see in the box (do not type spaces in between characters) and click continue. If your entry does not match the image, you will be given a new set of characters, or click Refresh to get a new set if you can't read the characters.
  • Select Security Questions, one from each drop-down list, and type your answer in the box below. Make sure to select a different question each time.
  • Create your User ID and Password.
    • User IDs can be any combination of letters, numbers, and special characters.
    • Passwords must be between 8 and 16 characters long and must contain at least 1 upper case letter, 1 lower case letter, and 1 number.
  • Submit your information.
  • If you have already downloaded the app, close your web browser, launch the app, and login to your accounts with your User ID, password, and the answers to your security questions.
  • Web users can choose the link under Web to login to BayFedMobile Web.
Having trouble with registration? A weak service signal can disrupt communication between your mobile device and the BayFedMobile server. If you receive a "session timed out" error message during registration, check the signal strength (i.e. number of "bars") on your mobile device, and move to an area with a stronger signal if the signal strength is 1 "bar" or less. If you continue to have trouble with registration, please contact us during normal business hours at 831.479.6000 or 888.4BAYFED, option 3.

How to Register for SMS Text Banking

Step 2: Choose your login credentials
  • Go to the BayFedMobile registration page at www.bayfed.com/mobilebankingreg.
  • Select New User and review and accept the terms and conditions.

Step 2: Enroll Your Mobile Phone or Device
The enrollment process is an additional security measure that saves information about your mobile phone to our secure BayFedMobile server.
  • Login to the the Bay Federal Mobile Banking Center at www.bayfed.com/mobilebankinenroll with your new User ID, password, and the answers to your security questions.
  • Select Add a phone, then:
    • Choose your mobile service carrier from the dropdown list.
    • Enter your 10-digit mobile phone number (for iPad, iPod, and Android tablet devices, enter your 10-digit home phone number).
    • Review and indicate your agreement with the Terms and Conditions.
    • Select Enroll.
  • Indicate the type of mobile device you plan to use with BayFedMobile.
    • Choose the smartphone to receive a text message from 46379 (Bay Federal's shortcode) with a link to download the BayFedMobile app.
    • Choose the flip phone to receive an activation code. When you receive a text message from 46379 (Bay Federal's shortcode), reply with your activation code to complete the enrollment process for text banking.
  • Click Continue.
  • When you receive a text message from 46379 (Bay Federal's shortcode), follow the instructions to complete enrollment and start using BayFedMobile.

Login to the BayFedMobile App
Follow these instructions after you have registered to use BayFedMobile.

  • From your device screen, touch the B icon to launch the app.
  • Enter your login credentials and select Login.
    • Choosing to save your User ID on the login page may save you time during future mobile banking sessions. For your protection, only part of the User ID will be visible.
  • Answer your security questions.
    • Time Saver: Choose Remember Me on your own, password-protected mobile phone or device to skip your security questions in the future.
  • When you receive a pop-up message that says "BayFedMobile would like to use your current location,":
    • Time Saver: Choosing Allow will enable better mapping capabilities in the Locate screen so you can get directions to Bay Federal branches and ATMs. Choosing Do Not Allow may make it more difficult to get directions to branches and ATMs from your current location.

App Screens
BayFedMobile app screens can look different depending upon the type of smartphone or mobile device. The screen descriptions in this section are meant as a general guide for all screen variations.

See Your Accounts
All of your Bay Federal accounts will appear on your Accounts screen, including all the accounts you own jointly with other members. Account descriptions include the account type (i.e. Membership Savings, BayChecking, etc.) and the last four digits of each account number. If your mobile device has a narrow screen, your account descriptions may be abbreviated.

Touch an account description to get more information about that account, then select:

  • Search Activity to view transactions that occurred on a specific date or with a specific dollar amount.
  • Recent Activity to review a list of recent transactions.


Transfer Funds
Move funds to and from your accounts or make payments to your Bay Federal loan accounts.

Please Note that the ability to make a payment to your Bay Federal VISA Credit Card account is not available at this time; however, you can make VISA payments through BayFedOnline, over the phone, or through the mail.

To transfer funds between your accounts:

  1. Select Transfer Funds.
  2. Select Transfer From and choose the account you want to transfer funds from.
  3. Select Transfer To and choose the account you want to transfer funds to.
  4. Enter the amount of your transfer and select Continue.
  5. Select Approve Transfer to complete the transaction, or Cancel to void it.

BayFedMobile Web

BayFedMobile web is a browser-based version of the BayFedMobile app designed for use on on mobile devices with small screens. It's the perfect solution for those who need to login to their account from someone else's device but would rather not download the app.

BayFedMobile web offers all the screens and features of the app with the exception of Remote Deposit Capture (the ability to deposit a check).

To login to BayFedMobile web, go to www.bayfed.com/mobilebanking from web browser on your mobile device.


SMS Text Banking

BayFedMobile Text Banking allows you to text commands and receive account balances and transaction information via text message on your text-ready mobile device.



To start your mobile banking session:
  • Send a text command to 46379 (Bay Federal's shortcode).
  • The BayFedMobile server will identify your enrolled phone, authenticate your request, and reply with your information in a few moments.
  • If you do not receive a text reply within a reasonable period of time, text your command again or call us at 831.479.6000 or 888.4BAYFED, option 3.
  • Continue to send text commands until you have the information you need, then end your session by deleting your text conversation.

IMPORTANT: As a security precaution, we recommend deleting all text messages to and from the BayFedMobile server at the end of every text banking session.

Deposit a Check
With your smartphone and the BayFedMobile App

The Deposit screen allows you to deposit checks to your account by taking a picture of the front and back of the check from your smartphone. This option is only available when using the BayFedMobile app on a smartphone.

IMPORTANT: Funds deposited through BayFedMobile are not available for immediate withdrawal.
The BayFedMobile Remote Deposit Capture Service (RDC) is offered as a convenience for those who are unable to make a deposit in a branch, at an ATM, or through the mail. Deposits made through RDC may not be immediately available for withdrawal, electronic payments, and check writing. Deposits made through this service are subject to the following delays and may be delayed further by check holds applied after receipt. Remote Deposit Capture Disclosure

To make a deposit:

  1. Endorse, or sign, the back of your check.
  2. Under your endorsement/signature, print your 8-digit account number and the date of your deposit.
  3. Place the check, face up, on flat surface in an area with bright lighting.
  4. Select Start New Deposit.
  5. Center the check so that the edges of the check fit inside the edges of the image box on your screen. Make sure there is substantial light on the check and that all written information is clear and legible.
  6. When your check is centered and ready, take a picture of the check, then repeat the process to take a picture of the back of the check.
  7. Enter the amount of the check, verify your information, then touch the deposit button to send the images of your check to Bay Federal Credit Union.
  8. If you receive an error message during this process, follow the instructions provided on your screen, or call 831.479.6000 or 888.4BAYFED, option 3, for assistance.
  9. Funds deposited through BayFedMobile will not be immediately available for use. We recommend that you confirm that your deposit has been received and that the funds are available in your account before trying to withdraw money, write checks, or schedule electronic payments or transfers from your account. Mobile Banking Center
Your online BayFedMobile control center

The BayFederal Mobile Banking Center at www.bayfed.com/mobilebankingreg is a secure website that provides self-serve security tools and information. Using your BayFedMobile login credentials, you can login to the Mobile Banking Center from any computer or mobile device with internet access to:

  • Enroll your mobile phone or device. The enrollment process saves unique information about your mobile phone onto the BayFedMobile server so that your account information can be accessed only from those mobile phones and devices you have selected.
  • Cancel enrollment. If your phone or device is lost or stolen, you can cancel enrollment from the Mobile Banking Center, then login to BayFedMobile web to change your password and security questions.
  • Access helpful information. Links to information and a mini-version of our FAQ are also available.

Security Features
BayFedMobile security information and recommendations

BayFedMobile offers many of the same security features and protection as our other online services, including:

  • Firewall systems and intrusion detection software.
  • Encryption of sensitive information that protects information sent over the internet.
  • Internationally recognized security standards and industry best practices.
  • Profile and Password security.

Here are some tips and general good practices for banking on your mobile device:

  • Download and apply security updates and patches to your mobile browser when they are made available by your wireless provider. These are designed to provide you with protection from known possible security problems.
  • To prevent viruses or other unwanted problems, do not open attachments from unknown or untrustworthy sources.
  • Do not install pirated software or software from unknown sources.
  • Limit unauthorized access to your mobile device. Do not leave your mobile device unattended during an open BayFedMobile session.
  • Never save your User ID and Password in your mobile device - in text messages, memos, notes, calendars, or anywhere on your device - and never share your User ID or Password with anyone.
  • Always remember to log off properly using the Sign Off button when you have completed your banking activities on the app or web.
  • Always delete all text messages at the end of your text banking session.
  • Be aware of the potential for fraudulent Mobile Banking apps. If you are not sure if the mobile banking app you are downloading is legitimate, call us first.
  • Malware is a major threat that can compromise the security of information on, or accessed by, a mobile device. We encourage you to acquire Malware protection software for your mobile device, and to be cautious of downloads, pop-ups, emails, and attachments from unknown or suspect origin that may contain Malware.

If your mobile phone or device is lost or stolen:

  • Go to the Mobile Banking Center at www.bayfed.com/mobilebankingreg
  • Login with your User ID, password, and answers to your security questions.
  • Remove the phone from your list of activated phones.
  • Call Bay Federal Credit Union at 831.479.6000 or 888.4BAYFED, option 3, so we can add additional security protection to your accounts, if necessary.
  • BayFedMobile app users should also login to BayFedMobile web at www.bayfed.com/mobilebanking to change their password and security questions and answers.

In addition to the delays posted in the Deposit Processing Schedule, additional hold times may apply and may delay funds availbility beyond the scheduled times shown.
