Capitola, CA – January 19, 2016 – Bay Federal Credit Union members and employees raised more than $14,000 for Second Harvest Food Bank’s holiday drive from November 2 to December 24, 2015.
Because of Second Harvest Food Bank’s incredible partnerships and low overhead, the funds raised, combined with the Credit Union’s sponsorship, translates into 68,250 healthy meals for local families. Additionally, more than 500 meals were made possible by donations of non-perishable food items at Bay Federal locations.
“We are proud of our history of partnering with Second Harvest,” said Carrie Birkhofer, Bay Federal Credit Union President and CEO. “Second Harvest is an excellent example of an organization creating a lasting impact locally.”
Bay Federal Credit Union has supported Second Harvest Food Bank for more than 18 years. Second Harvest Food Bank is committed to eliminating childhood hunger, promoting healthy eating, and reducing obesity in Santa Cruz County, where hunger affects one in every four children.
