Capitola, CA – February 25, 2016 – Bay Federal Credit Union raised $8,056 for the Teen Kitchen Project and Camp Opportunity at the Credit Union’s annual employee appreciation celebration, which included a silent auction benefitting the local nonprofits.
The silent auction, a key component of Bay Federal’s extensive community support program, included items donated from businesses throughout Santa Cruz County and the Greater Bay Area. In past years, the silent auction has benefitted Aztecas Soccer Program, Easter Seals, Kid Quest, and Santa Cruz County 4-H’s Leadership Team.
“We would like to thank the local businesses that helped make this possible,” said Carrie Birkhofer, President and CEO of Bay Federal Credit Union. “Likewise, the employees that stepped up to contribute items or place bids helped the auction’s continued success.”
The Teen Kitchen Project builds healthy communities by teaching young people to cook nourishing food. These teens gain skills and are offered the opportunity to build connections through community service by preparing and delivering meals free to local families in crisis. It has said it plans to put the funds toward a new Watsonville facility. For more information, visit www.teenkitchenproject.org.
