Celebrating 60 Years of Making a Real Difference
In 1957, a group of eight local teachers came together to establish a credit union. They pooled their money, and the first loan they issued was for a baby’s crib.
From these humble beginnings, Bay Federal Credit Union has grown into a thriving financial cooperative more than 65,000 members strong with more than 200 employees and assets surpassing $857 million.
As we celebrate our 60th anniversary this year, we do so knowing that we have made a real difference in the financial lives of our members and in the lives of many people in our community over the decades.
After the Loma Prieta Earthquake in 1989, Bay Federal offered emergency loans to those in need, no questions asked, with 0% interest. Following a brief 24-hour closure, several branches managed to stay open and operate without electricity in the aftermath.
When the recession hit, our loss mitigation department worked tirelessly to help local families keep their homes and their vehicles. Bay Federal helped hundreds of members avoid foreclosure and repossession.
Last year, together we raised $67,212 to support 32 local nonprofits. For the 15th straight year, 100 percent of our employees gave their time and money volunteering in the community.
Our tradition of people helping people runs deep within our organization. Our team members are driven to make this year, our 60th, better than ever through continued commitment to our membership and our community.
Thank you for being a member!
